Led efforts in Strategy and Operations including setup of new areas

  • The strategy and reengineering projects for a major corporation led to significant revenue improvements, increasing customer satisfaction, while reducing costs
  • The design of an expansion strategy for a US Money Center bank into retail banking in international markets led to a change of the original vision and the definition of alliances
  • The strategy, organization, and reengineering studies for a major private equity fund manager led to a successful portfolio reorganization as well as changes in incentives
  • The entry strategy for a $50 billion International bank led to the launch of the only fully-fledged greenfield bank in the country. Very active in the 9-month implementation stage, unique opportunity to define novel strategy and operational practices per segment from scratch
  • The marketing study for an East Coast company included a detailed segmentation of current and prospective customers in consumer, affluent and commercial segments in terms of their value
  • The evaluation of ROI of marketing spend for a large corporation helped improve returns by better assigning spend per product/channel/campaign, including econometric techniques
  • Led a 9-month multinational effort on “Perspectives on the Evolution of Financial Services in Emerging Markets” comprising Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia while based in Frankfurt

 

Conducted the setup of Risk Management Processes and Functions until their implementation

  • Work at several American, European and EM banks included full implementation of Credit processes. Recovery at a major bank doubled (22% to 46%) in 12 months
  • The two-year implementation of risk processes at a large Brazilian bank was praised by Risk Magazine, Derivatives Technology, and Meridien Research as a top case of risk management

 

Directed activities in Corporate Finance, including Mergers & Acquisitions and other studies related to improvements on the balance sheet. Among these,

  • Led the acquisition of BioBras Ltda. for Novo Nordisk of Denmark. Defined business strategy to defend global position of client, initiated contacts with target, performed valuation of target, and successfully led negotiations on behalf of the client
  • Conducted several balance sheet financial analyses including the valuation of a portfolio of $ 1.2 billion in distressed assets for an official bank, establishing contacts with buyers

 

Led efforts regarding Financial Analysis and Competitiveness, including sources of value creation addressing both ROIC and WACC issues

 

Significant work in Financial Institutions, also led projects in different industries such as Consumer (e.g. market entry), Telecom (e.g. risk management and recovery), Basic metals (e.g. strategy), Construction (e.g. governance and organization), and Oil (e.g. change management)
